Prayer and Support for Christian Radio Station "Radio Calvario" Calvary Radio

Radio Calavio or (Calvary Radio) is a Christian Radio Station in Nueva Guinea Nicaragua. There are frequent power outages in this town. Currently we are going on 30 hours without power. We are the only radio station on this side of the country that transmits during power outages. We give hope through the word and worship even when the power is out which is a huge blessing to the taxi drivers of the town, the local, and internet community. We also transmit through our online radio station radiocalvario.com in spanish and in English you can listen by clicking here even when there is no power when the phone company is online.

We have all calvary chapel pastors including: Jaime Simon, Fausto Flucker, Chuck Smith, Sergio Moreno, Leon Scott and others and when we aren’t putting out the bible or inductive style teaching we are putting out worship!

We have recently gone through a lot of gasoline and would like to ask for your prayers and support for the radio station.

Water Out for Town

"Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.” John 4:13-14

Water has been out for 2 days now in Nueva Guinea. The last remaining pump is burned out. And we are waiting for mechanics to come from the capital in Managua to fix the issue. A journalist I talked to said the water may be out until Saturday.

People have to know travel to get water to the water plant where emergency water is being given out. Pray that water returns but also pray that others may recieve living water in Nueva Guinea the Holy Spirit.

Many times we don't think too much about water. As it is so readily available to us. But when it goes we realize how vital it is to us. Unlike our physical thirst which must continually receive water when we receive the spirit of God it is satisfying and eternal.

Youth Stuck at High River

For God who made the stars and rivers is bigger than any obstacle.

So the youth are on their retreat. Please pray now for their return. The rain has not let up for over 12 hours and the rivers are too high to cross. They have tried to cross on horseback but the river is too high and too fast. The last bus today is at 6pm back to Nueva Guinea. Pray the rain stops so the river can drop and they can get back. Thanks for your proayers! Those that I know that are on the retreat are: Hector, Deanna, Natanael, Lydia, Pastor Carlos, Carla, Judith, Tino, Moises, Katherine, Danny and several other youth.

James 5:17 Elijah was a human being as we are, He prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain...

Trip Monday to Managua

Will be going Monday to Managua to renew the Association Grace Ministries Int. (Ministerios de Gracias Int.) Please be in prayer for us preparing the documents for this and the yearly reports. Requirements frequently change and renewing the association is proving difficult. Pray for wisdom and understanding for those involved. For myself and Pastor Leon in the paperwork process.

We will also be doing other errands:

  • Pastor Carlos getting his visa to Costa Rica for the pastor and leader's conference on March 7th and purchasing bus tickets.
  • For Doña Carla, Danny's mom who will be going with us to renew her Nicaraguan ID.
  • For Angela who will be accompanying Doña Carla
  • For Greg and Hector who will be turning in documents working with Nicaraguan govt. offices and lawyers.
  • For Deanna and the kids who will be holding down the fort back at the facility.

Thank you for your prayers!

How good it is for brothers to dwell together in unity. Psalm 133:1

From Monday the 7th to the 10th of March Calvary Chapel will be having a pastors and leaders conference in Heredia, Costa Rica. It is designed for a time of spiritual refreshment and of growth in the Lord. Jaime Simon will be teaching as well he is one of the Pastor's that we have here on the radio station here at Radio Calvario so we'd like  to be there. The cost to go is U$100 per person. As for the moment Pastor Carlos and myself, Greg Brakensiek are signed up to go. We'd like to go but put it in God's hand and according to his will.

If you'd like to give toward Pastor Carlos and myself going to the conference cost is U$200. Pray about it and how much if any God wants you to give and than cheerfully give. May God bless you and hope to see you all soon in person also as God permits.

In Jesus,

Greg Brakensiek              Proverbs 3:5-7

Jose arrived!

Jose has just come down from Calvary Chapel Managua. He will be here until the new year so keep him in your prayers. Jose as you remember has been with us serving here in Nueva Guinea on several occasions. Now he is praying to come back and serve full time in 2016. One of Jose's 1st ministry assignments we've given him is taking photos of events and helping us keep a photo and video log of what God is doing down here. He has been also really active with the youth and encouraging with them. Pray for Jose as he adjusts to life in Nueva Guinea and his new ministry responsibilities. Right now he doesn't have a camera, so he borrows one, pray for that also. Jose isn't seen in the pictures below because he took the pictures. He helped lead the skit preparation with Deanna we are blessed having him here for Christmas!

Residency Trip

So we will be leaving tonight at 1:30 am to head out toward Managua. The bus ride is around 6 hours. I will be picking up my residency which costs U$200 and Angela will be turning in her paperwork. Pray that all goes according to God's will and that God gives us favor in Jesus name!

Hector, Angela, and I will be traveling and we'll be back here in Nueva Guinea tomorrow night God willing! The bus's have been having problems, the last times that we have been riding them and sometimes the bus drivers aren't the best drivers so keep us in prayer as we trust in God our shepard. Also keep in prayer the finances for this month after these residency documents get done we we also need to make another trip to renew our non-profit organization, "Ministerios de Gracia International," in which we have the radio and the church included under. That cost is usually U$400 to do that and requires the use of nicaraguan lawyers. So keep this all in prayer and thank you for praying and following God's leading as we work together for the furtherance of the gospel here in Nueva Guinea Nicaragua.

Prayer Day for the Persecuted Church

The month of November is the month of prayer for the persecuted church around the world. So we have decided to invite the churches in our town to come pray. On the 28th of November we'll be having a prayer service that starts at 6am and will end at 3 pm. Different churches will be coming hour by hour to pray for different countries. We will than have a service together with the town at our facility at 6pm. Pray for this event as I'm sure the enemy does not like it. We'll be remembering countries like North Korea and keeping them in prayer as we are commanded to in Hebrews 13:3. In countries like North Korea and those in 10/40 window Christians are second class citizens and are persecuted severely sometimes even to death. We too can pray for them this month remembering our brothers and sisters that follow Jesus even when it costs them beatings and sometimes their lives.

I'll try to get some pictures up later of some of the youth that are helping to research the countries that are persecuted. We are going to have posters up in the church of the 30 most persecuted countries around the world and what we can pray about for them.

Also check pastor Carlos's blog today or tomorrow a video of Carla's 15th b-day should be up soon.

Nicaraguan Independence Day

As the Us has their independence day on July 4th. Nicaragua has theirs the 15 of September. This year we were blessed with Jose from Managua who came to visit and help out from Calvary Chapel Managua. For Independence day we all got up at 5 am and walked to get hornadas which are a corn breakfast food that is good to eat with coffee. They didn't have any coffee so we shared a 3 liter soda. On our way back we we stopped by to cool down at the river called the Verbena.

We got back at 11:30 and were able than to help Milton and Danny with their roof. Here the tin roofs rust after some time. So we went up there with wire brushes the kind that people use to clean off their grills and helped them scrub all the rust off that roof which is the hardest part. It was a blessing to help them and show them the love of Jesus in a practical way. And they shall know that we are His disciples by the love that we have one for another!

Today we too can celebrate independence day in remembering the day that God liberated us from sin in the Cross. The day Jesus had victory on the cross and how we can also have victory in Him.

God bless you this independence day!
